Friday - Date Nite!

This is a big week.  Today is my mom's 65th birthday.  Tomorrow the baby turns 6 months old!  Friday afternoon is his 6 month check up and Friday night is date night.  Saturday my cousin's son turns 7.  My sister so kindly volunteered to babysit on Friday for date night.  I don't recall the last time me and the hubby went out at night together alone.  It's been quite some time.  Since we won't be doing any romantic dinner on Valentine's day, Friday will be our pre-Valentine's celebration.  We plan on checking out a new restaurant in the 'hood called Talde. The head chef has been on the TV show "Top Chef" and he just so happens to be Filipino.  I am a fan of the show so I was kind of excited to find out this was opening right near where I live.  So of course I've got to show some support - not that he needs it - I mean the place is always packed.  Hopefully we can get seated.

Last night I tried to make a bundt cake and it totally got ruined :(.  I've been on this baking whimsy lately.  There's this site called Pinterest, which I never heard of before so decided to check it out to see what it was all about.  just a lot of how-to's from fashion to hair to food.  you can spend a lot of time searching through so many things.  and so i found this Fresh Strawberry Yogurt Bundt cake and decided to try it out.  Lesson learned - while the cake tastes delicious, when I tried to flip it over, half of it got stuck in the pan and half of it came out - Not enough grease in the pan!  Total Fail - I was supposed to bring it over to someone's house this evening.  My hubby says it's fine but it's a little embarrassing since it's in pieces.

My friend sent me the below link today and it's so cool - this woman takes a child's drawing and turns it into a stuffed animal. Of course not all art can be reinterpreted into a stuffed animal and she'll confirm what's possible but if you check out the site, she does an amazing job on the ones she can:

so the baby is still attempting to crawl.  right now, he is able to push himself backwards across the floor.  he gets pretty far.  i guess he's still building enough muscle so he can actually kneel on all fours.  that's progress considering before he could only roll onto his stomach and lift his head up.
